Verify your business with a video

To verify your Business Profile, upload a video that shows key info about your business. This helps us confirm that you manage or represent the business. Video verification works for businesses with a physical storefront, service-area businesses, or hybrid businesses that do both. Your business type determines what info to include in your verification video. Learn more about service-area and hybrid businesses.

Prepare for your recording

Important: Make sure to plan your video before you record. You can’t record it offline and upload it later.

Your video must be:

  • An unedited, unique, and complete recording with no breaks.
  • At least 30 seconds long.
  • Recorded and uploaded from a mobile device through your Business Profile. Learn how to submit your video.

Your video must not include:

  • Sensitive info like bank account, tax, or ID numbers.
  • Private info about you or others.
  • Other people’s faces.

Understand video requirements for storefront & hybrid businesses

A storefront business interacts with customers in-person during business hours at a physical location with permanent on-site signage. A hybrid business serves customers at its location and also visits or delivers to them. For example, a dine-in restaurant that also offers delivery.

Important: If your business doesn’t have permanent on-site signage, list it as a service-area business instead of storefront. Learn more about service-area and hybrid businesses.

Verify your business with a video recording: Storefront

For storefront and hybrid businesses, your video must:

  • Show your business location: Include street signs, building numbers, nearby businesses, or familiar places around your business. This helps confirm that your business is at the correct location shown on Google Maps.
  • Show proof that your business exists: Include your storefront, showroom, or business signage. Make sure your business name is clearly printed on a permanent fixture, like a signboard, wall, or window. The name shown in your video must match the name on your Business Profile.
  • Show proof of management: Prove that you manage or represent the business. Record things only an employee can access, like opening a cash register, kitchen, storage room, or using a point-of-sale system.

Understand video requirements for service-area businesses

A service-area business goes to customers or offers services but doesn’t serve them at its business address. For example, a locksmith or a plumber.

Important: If you don’t serve customers at your business location, do not add your business address to your Business Profile. Learn more about service-area and hybrid businesses.

Verify your business with a video recording: Service Area Business

For service-area businesses, your video must:

  • Show the location where you offer your services: Include signs in your service area that promote your business. To confirm your location, you can also show street signs or nearby landmarks. Do not show empty land or places with no clear signs.
  • Show proof that your business exists: Show your business signage, products, services, or tools you use at work. For example, unlock a van that shows your business name or show branded shirts worn by employees or customers.
  • Show proof of management: Prove that you manage or represent the business. Record yourself when you perform the service. Show business documents like business permit, invoice, or utility bill that matches the name on your Business Profile.
