What are the Android, Phone by Google and Google Messages Beta Programs?

Hey Pixel Tablet Community,
If you’ve been browsing our Community, you might have seen people mention the Android Beta for Pixel, Phone by Google Beta and Google Messages Beta, but what are these programs about? They offer you a simple way to try pre-release versions of Android and test drive new features, and the feedback you provide will help us identify and fix issues, and make the platform even better.
The Pixel Tablet Community is not the place to post questions about the pre–release versions. This forum is for addressing questions related to the current stable version. However, if you’re interested in enrolling, we wanted to share a few tips.
Keep in mind:
- The updates that you’ll receive as part of the beta program are pre-release versions. They may contain errors and defects that can affect the normal functioning of your device. We highly recommend that you back up your data and review the latest release notes for Pixel devices before enrolling.
- If you need help while you’re in the Android Beta Program, post in the Android Beta Program subreddit to get an answer from your peers. Google may not respond to posts individually, but we are actively monitoring the feedback there.
- The Pixel Tablet Community is not the place to post questions about the pre–release versions. This forum is for addressing questions related to the current public version.

Note: Leaving the Android Beta Program? You will have to reset your device to return to the latest publicly available build. Or, check the Android Beta Program subreddit for updates on when the stable version is offered so that you can exit without wiping your device.
